With all the new dogs coming into our care, we wanted to remind you about our sanctuary pups…those ones who come to us needing ongoing care, and so stay in permanent foster. The oldest of these, at almost 16, is JESSIE. Jessie was diagnosed with cancer back in the spring – large, malignant tumours on her liver and adrenal gland. The adrenal tumour is particularly aggressive and has been causing some GI issues but this dear, sweet, wise old girl has let us know she’s not ready to start the next part of her journey quite yet. Typically, adrenal cancer has a prognosis of 6-8 months after diagnosis and she is at that point. So her days are limited, but for now she still enjoys a good quality of life, and until she’s ready to go on, her foster mom is dedicated to keeping her comfortable and stable, and when the time comes, being there to let her go surrounded by love.
