We’re looking for a special forever home for two of the sweetest dogs to ever have come into our care. Peaches and Blossom are what is known as double dapples, the result of breeding two dapple dachshunds together. Not a good idea…these two 6 year old sisters are both blind, and Blossom is also deaf. However, don’t tell them they have any kind of a disability! Because this is all they’ve ever known, they’ve grown up thinking this is how everyone is, thank you very much. And to watch them you’d never think there was a thing wrong with them, they have adapted brilliantly.
PEACHES is a blind, super silly little angel. She’s incredibly sweet & snuggly, she loves everyone, even other dogs (although she is still learning how to be appropriately social with dogs). As you can see from the video she loves wrestling with her sister. Like any other typical dachshund, she has covering herself with blankets to make a nest down to a fine art.
BLOSSOM is both blind and deaf. Like her sister, she’s a super snuggler and wants to be with her person all the time. She does take a bit of time to warm up to new people (fair enough!). But sit with her quietly to let her smell you, hold out your hand so she knows you’re there, give her a chance to figure you out, and she’ll be crawling all over you in no time. She loves her sister just as much as her sister loves her. However she is not fond of other animals.
There is absolutely no doubt these two are extremely bonded. They would both do best in a home where they can be the focus of your attention and get all the cuddles. Older, respectful kids (10+ yrs) would be ok. They do well in the car on long drives, walk well on leashes, and have been doing well with their halos navigating their foster home.
