We honestly donβt understand why Oscar is still waiting for his forever family. Seriouslyβ¦look at that face. 
Oscar is a young-at-heart, 10 year old black & tan dachshund who has spent the last 5 months in foster care getting healthier, slimming down, and enjoying all the important things in life…walks, games of ‘chase me’, car rides, veggie treatsβ¦ and being someoneβs constant little shadow.
He is funny, loyal, affectionate and VERY food motivated 
. Heβll happily eat carrots

, cauliflower, and kale

Oscar isnβt the dog who is going to charm every stranger at the dog park. He’s wary of strangers, crowds, and people entering his home. He needs time to trust and a family who understands that relationships arenβt built overnight. But once youβre in Oscarβs inner circle, youβre IN! Youβll get the loyal little shadow, the silly dachshund games, the car ride buddy, the companion who wants to be wherever you areβ¦and the kind of love that comes from a dog who knows he has found his people.
Oscar needs someone who is home most of the time. Someone who enjoys a quieter lifestyle. Someone with a fenced yard, a love of dachshunds, and the patience to let a relationship develop at Oscarβs pace.
Oscar does have separation anxiety, but thankfully, he LOVES car rides, so heβs perfectly happy to be your little copilot. 
His ideal home is:
* Calm and low-traffic
* Someone home full-time
* Fenced yard or leash walks only
* Daily walks and exercise
* No children
* No cats or birds
* No apartments
* Best as an only dog, or with one calm, respectful dog
* A commitment to keeping him on his healthy, weight-controlled diet
Oscar is neutered, microchipped, up to date on his vaccinations
